Johan got there first. The venue was well-chosen. An abandoned railway station in the middle of the Karoo. Shawn was surprised that none of the invited attendees objected to the venue or even hesitated about attending the meeting even though it was 4 hour drive out of Cape Town.

The station had not been in use for several years following the construction of a new railway line and station parallel to the old line, but a few kilometres north of the old station.
Luckily there was no rain forecast for tonight as the roof of the building had long since been destroyed by looters and the unforgiving elements.
All five of the attendees were seated at the make-shift table by midnight, their bodyguards sat in their cars surrounding the building in a half-moon fashion.
Elaine arrived last. She hesitated a moment before entering, taking in the full picture of what her eyes revealed. There, in front of her sat the three most notorious and feared gang bosses in the Cape. And seated at the head of the table was probably the wealthiest Coloured man in the Cape.
Johan motioned for her to fill the empty seat to his right. Malik sat in the chair next her, while Stanley sat opposite her and Lucky filled the spot on Johan’s right.

There was an air of intense anticipation mixed with the natural anxiety that came with not knowing what was about to happen next.
A decanter of sherry with five glasses sat in the middle of the plain wooden table. Johan got up from his chair and, unsmiling and silently, poured everyone a drink before sitting down again.
