Chapter 61: How to rule the Cape

“Erm, that idiot is messing up again, he helped out with some logistics before the elections, but I haven’t heard from him since election weekend. But he is fine, I have a tail on him constantly. He’s on a bender with his chick and some mates. He’ll probably resurface soon.”

“Okay, just make sure he doesn’t say or do anything stupid, that would, shall we say reflect badly on our project.”

“Way ahead of you on that score, cuz,” Shawn said reassuringly. “So, what now?”

Johan looked away from Shawn towards the window. Shawn followed his gaze. Outside the notorious South Easter wind was blowing quite hard again. It was that annoying, strong wind, that whipped about and changed direction like an angry snake, not caring who or what it struck.

It was also the same wind which the First Nation ancient people called “angry spirits demanding change.”

“Now, it’s time to start the second part of my plan.”

Shawn gave Johan his full attention.

“I need you to arrange a meeting of the utmost secrecy. You choose the venue and the time, but it must happen tomorrow. Use whatever incentives you need to.”

“Seems pretty straight-forward,” Shawn replied.

“Wait until you hear who I want at the meeting.”

“I’m all ears,” Shawn said with a nonchalant giggle.

Johan responded.

“Well, that’s not too difficult to make happen, in-fact, why don’t you throw in the Pope and the Dalai Lama in the mix,” Shawn replied sarcastically. “And I take it you are dead serious about having the meeting tomorrow?”

Johan ignored the sarcasm. “Yes, please cuz, tomorrow night, any time after ten pm would suit me. And they are allowed to bring one bodyguard, but the bodyguards will not be allowed in the meeting room.”

“Leave it to me,” Shawn realised that Johan was as serious as he had ever been.

“Thanks, cuz.”

“I’m outta here… I’ll call you later with an update,” Shawn replied as he walked out of the room. Johan, walked up to the flip chart and continued his organogram and notes.
