Two individuals and one team from the Cape Flats could be crowned World Champions in their respective sports this month and November, and that is amazing news! Our editorial policy at the Raven Report is to only share positive and inspirational news from our community and our journey so far has unearthed some incredible talent from the Cape Flats.

Click on the names below to read the full stories. First in line for potential World Championship glory is 13-year-old Tashrique Pietersen, who will line up his pool cue at the 2026 International Blackball Federation World Championships which will be staged right here in Cape Town from 23 October to 1 November at the Bellville Velodrome.
Then we travel down under to Australia where the SA Women’s Tag Rugby team will make history by being the first ladies’ team from South Africa to compete for World Cup honours at the tournament to be held at the Coffs International Stadium in Coffs Harbour, Australia, from the 15th to 18th of October.
Next up, our focus shifts almost 9000kms to Tbilisi, Georgia where Mitchells Pain teen, 19-year-old force of nature, Xavier Cornelius, will enter the MMA ring as South Africa’s National Champion against the world’s best in the Bantam weight division. The 2026 IMMAF World Championships will take place from 1 November to 7 November.
Local Cup Final
And last, but by no means least, even if its not a World championship, we have to mention the incredible journey of the Ravensmead AFC Ladies football team who will contest a local cup final tomorrow, in their debut season in the Northern Suburbs Local Football Association (NSLFA) league.
All roads lead to Erica Park in Belhar where they take on Trinitarians Ladies in a bid to end their first season on a high, after finishing the season in seventh place on the log.

Good luck to you all, your journey is the pride of our community and we wish you all the best in your final mission.
Go Cape Flats, go!!
